Hi all...firstly I'm unsure if this is the correct sub for me to ask this question so if anyone knows of a better one, please tell me! :D
My question is this...I've just moved from the UK to Oz and am very aware that at least in SA, design in general is extremely behind...behind the UK anyway.
Images on clothing, toys and home furnishings, prints on fabric, street advertising...it's all so old fashioned as to be almost quaint in my eyes.
I visited a market where designers and makers of children's clothing, toys and accessories could sell their makes and it all looked like the stuff I was seeing ten years ago in the UK.
Am I way off track in thinking I can enliven things with some more current things? Will I just face an audience thinking "That's weird?" or will I likely be a hit?
I'm thinking mainly of children's clothing.
