Path to web-development?

I know this has been rehashed, and I have definitely been using the search function, but I could use a more recent discussion before I commit to a resource.

My wife and I want to start doing some moving around, and I realized that even though I love distilling, it is not the most hiring field, and I would like a back up plan/mobile career.

In college I took a class on HTML/CSS and loved it, I loved the web-design/coding experience, and got really into it.

I want to get back and really learn now, to the level that I could be hired. Even in the last year though resources have exploded exponentially, and I feel totally lost.

Code academy, Code School, Treehouse, Lynda, uDacity.

Where do I begin? Where do I stay?

From what I see HTML+CSS+Javascript+Jquery is the key to success with 95% of webpages, and Ruby can take you to the entire next level of employment/work ability/pay. Does this seem accurate or too much/too little?

But the real question is obviously where do I go? Which resource is best, I obviously expect to pay money to learn and don't mind if its a paid resource.

Where can I go to the most comprehensive (And intuitive) learning experience that can really prepare me to jump start into professional/freelance work?

Work wise, I figure besides plain Jane web-design, mobile web optimization and SEO are the big payers? Are these resources helpful on that front?

Thank you all so so much for any help!
