I am doing 3D illustrations of the interior of a housing development. We had several progress meetings during which I showed the client draught renders (which are at low quality and looks terrible, but it was to get the model and the look and feel of the furniture right).
I sent them the final renders last week. I was extremely satisfied with the result, I thought it was some of my best work ever.
A week later, they email me saying that they are dissatisfied with my work, it is of such bad quality that they can't use it at all. They have appointed another company to redo the project completely. Due to some stupidity on their part they paid me in full at the start of the project instead of a 50% deposit. Now he wants me to pay them back.
Granted, I am not the best in the world, of course. Before appointing me they had full access to my website which has an extensive portfolio, so they knew the general quality of my work.
I feel completely gutted and bowled over. What do I do? All my other clients are very happy with my work, and I've never had a complaint like this before. I have no idea how to handle it!
