Considering going to school for a career as a web designer. Could use some input.

I've always enjoyed learning HTML and designing websites layouts and tinkering with them so as far as thinking in that sense, a web designer career seems like a very well suited path for me. There's not much I enjoy in terms of wanting it to be my career, but web designer just seems right. I basically like the aesthetics of websites and how easily you can make it to navigate them.

However, I have no artistic abilities at all. I don't have an artistic bone in my body, so if it comes to graphics, drawing, etc, I am helpless. I'm not sure how crucial that part of the job is for a web designer but I'm afraid not being artistic in any way will hurt me. That's not to say that I am not creative, however. I do like thinking of new ways of doing things, trying out different layouts, and other things like that.

  1. My main concern is my lack of artistic abilities. How crucial would you guys say that is for a career in web design?

  2. What kind of schooling is preferred/required to be taken seriously and have opportunities for well paying jobs?

  3. What are some at home resources to take advantage of to learn and improve my skills for this field?

  4. Is this the right subreddit to post this question to, or is there a better one to get more feedback?
