Copying from a companies history page for my site?

So i checked google, sidebar and FAQ and didnt find anything for my question. Figure i would ask here.

I am working on a website that features items from different companies. Next to the item I give a brief history of the company it is from. Is it ok if i copy directly from that companies webpage? I have just been copying from their history page, its been mostly excerpts since most of these companies have a lengthy history page. Do i have to paraphrase them into my own words?

Thanks in advance for any advice. Complete new here.
