Can someone help me with text flip-ins and responsiveness?

I'm currently designing a personal website. I'm a TOTAL beginner with HTML and the only knowledge I'm using is an HTML course I took on Codeacademy about 2 years ago, and another one I took two nights ago. For the curious, here is my website. I have to add an acknowledgements page but I'm using Libre Sans L as a font, and various other code that I have in my changelog.

I've got a lot of things that I want to do (for one, make it more responsive) but nothing is stumping me more than a text flip kind of thing.

If you look on the website, you'll see that it says (on two separate lines:

" hi, my name is

LUCAS GELFOND

and I like to MAKE THINGS

"

I want to make it so that every 2-5 seconds, the text "Make things" would change to something else. For instance, "design stuff" or "lead teams", or "get it done". I'm trying to find something accessible, either with JQuery or CSS that will animate new text coming in. I'd prefer no bounce, and either a slide in from the right, left, top, or bottom, preferably no fades or rotates or anything.

So far, I've found lots of slideshows that use pictures, but it's quite hard to implement those in a actual sentence. Some of them are also pretty bad also.

What do you guys think?

PS - my whole website hinges on design that needs a lot of vertical space and not a lot of horizontal space. How might I make the design sensitive to that - ie not crop vertically or something? I'm having trouble with making the website as responsive as possible as I want this to be easily movable on desktop, laptop, mobile, etc.

Epic visual tool
