Guys. I don't know how else to put this. Clients are driving me crazy. I'm working on a logo concept for a company and came up with what I think are some really great concepts. They're elegant, simple, and unique, in my humble opinion. They are not happy with the direction, and they have given round after round of suggestions that I feel continue to degrade the quality of the work.
I've made my suggestions very clear and have urged them to keep it simple and elegant but they are very adamant about sending me shitty clip art inspiration, with captions like "see?? this is what we want." I'm normally VERY diplomatic and find ways to incorporate client feedback and still have it look good. But they are now insisting on very specific styles and colors that are, for lack of a better term, absolute shit. They seem to have no concept of things that look good. I hate sounding so pretentious, but the inspiration they continue to send over is some of the ugliest, cheapest looking design I have ever seen. It makes my eyes bleed.
I can't dump the client as I work for a small company, my boss has defended my work already, which I really appreciate, but they are insistent on these changes.
If they want crappy clip art then I can do that pretty easily. But I can't help but feel like I am failing to some degree, because I absolutely would NOT put this work into my portfolio.
Do I just suck it up and give them a shitty final product? How do you handle situations like this?
