Good materials to study/learn from after Codeacademy?

Hi guys,

I'm almost done with HTML, CSS on Codeacademy; while it did provide me with a good overview and served as a great introduction to html and css, it of course didn't go very indepth into everything that was discussed. Such as the additional things one must add to the image tag in case the user is using a text browser and not able to actually see the image, etc

To follow-up on codeacademy, are there any good books I should read or other sites to check out for additional information regarding html/css?

Basically, now that i'm a little comfortable with it, I would like to learn as much as I can and be as comprehensive as I can ...and to do that, I should probgably start using w3c and start getting myself familiar with that site and learn how to learn from it and use it as reference right?

Also, when is a good time to start learning Javascript? Once my level of expertise for html/css has reached Medium-Expert level?
