I was recently offered a position at a web design company with terrible Yelp, Google, and BBB reviews. I have a few questions.

x-post from /r/jobs

I've never really been in this situation before, as I've only ever worked for large retail chains or small startups, never a mid-sized, local company such as this that's been around for awhile (but has awful reviews).

My questions:

  1. It seems like this company has had many issues with providing customers with what they've paid for (in this case, web design). In working for this company, if they continue to offer poor service/not provide the services paid for, can I be held liable in any way? (provided I've properly carried out my job duties).

  2. I don't start until next week. Is it worth it to try to get in touch with either my interviewer/new boss or the company's employees and ask what the deal is with the low reviews, and whether the company is aware of them and/or working to fix it, and what I can do?

  3. Should I even take this job? I sort of foolishly accepted the job without really researching the company, since the offered pay is good and I'm relatively recent out of college and trying to get my career off the ground. I also have already given my two weeks' notice to my current employer.
