Hello /r/web_design, I am coming to you in an hour of need. I am not a web designer/developer and am working out of my depth here...
For the past week, I have been working towards completing a project very similar to this one for my wife's birthday. I have been working through adding some widgets to the static page that is located at http://localhost on my raspberry pi and would love to add a random quote generator. Ideally, I would like to control the content of the quote 'library', but have no idea how to set this up. I would also love to find a good news headline aggregator that looks really nice. Right now, I'm using the html widgets provided by Reuters, but they look a little out-dated, which contrasts the styling of the rest of the display.
The only experience I have with widgets is when I fiddled with Wordpress CMS a while back, but when it comes to static pages like this with no CMS behind it, I'm admittedly lost. Please help!!
