They've quietly reduced artist commission to nothing.
Cafepress used to have "SQS" ratings that determined your commission on your sales, which was some bullshit where if you were "active", meaning every THREE MONTHS:
-You uploaded a new design
-Followed someone
-Someone followed you
-You connected your Social Media
-Uploaded a profile photo
THEN they gave you 10% commission on orders bought on Cafepress.com. Annoying, but at least you had some control. Your designs bought offsite, like on Amazon, were already reduced to a fixed 5% commission.
That went on for several years, and I didn't always remember at the 3 month mark to call around asking for someone to follow me etc. And if you didn't, your commission dropped to 5%. Meanwhile most of the traffic moved offsite to Amazon anyway.
Then in July 2017 we got this bombshell in our inboxes.
The link to discussion forums? Don't work.
So basically, lol fuck you guys, if you weren't one of our large bulk sellers constantly receiving a performance bonus commission, and you weren't addicted to the site and forgot about the SQS, you now receive 5% for all of your artwork and you can't do shit about it. Oh and also, you gave us the right to do what we want with your designs, so if you delete them and leave, we'll go on selling them anyway for 30 days.
