I need a site built on some sort of CMS system, so I can update content, add tabs/pages, etc on my own in the future. I want to own the site outright, and any monthly fees I want to be just for hosting.
I was planning on doing 99designs.com for a Wordpress theme contest, as I've already used them to do my logo and was happy with that, but I've been criticized on reddit saying there are better alternatives.
So what's the best way to get a website made on a CMS system? How can I find a good designer? I don't want to pay a fortune, but I also don't want to buy a headache. Is Upwork a bad idea?
I was thinking Wordpress, just because it's giant and so many people know how it works.
I have AWS+Wordpress already setup (free for their micro instances).
