Thinking of moving from Google Domains to NameCheap

So I have a Google Domain that I purchased about 3 months ago, after purchasing it I went on AWS and went ahead and setup a nice simple webserver for testing, after this I realized "Oh, Google doesn’t have the option to buy SSL certs or even DDOS protection, well great", but that’s not a need I guess at the moment, the only other bad thing is that Google insists on setting up a Google Apps account for your email (setting up DNS to another server is a bit of a pain but it could just be me) and website, other than that there website looks a bit...... non retro plain I guess :).

However, my real question is, in the last hour I have been looking at NameCheap which (as the name states) is a few dollars cheaper and has a few more features and more/better support than Google, and it appears that they have a little more a lot more experience than Google, so what do you all think?

The only real advantage I see in Google right now is that I can log into my GMail and see how my domain is going (laziness I know). NameCheap does seem to have an Android app but the reviews say it’s probably broken, is there any other advantages NameCheap has over Google or vise Vera? Also would anyone recommend any other domain provider?

PS: I don’t mean to put Google Domains down in anyway, its in beta, but it just seems so plain and limited, and Google’s documentation on ddclient (and the lack of other dynamic clients, for example what do I use if I have a Windows Server?) makes me want to tear my hair out (it does have screenshots though :)
