LinkedIn; Good for developing professional connections with other designers?

I'm graduating in the spring of next year and I was curious about how many designers here used LinkedIn. And then to add to that, I am currently enrolled in a personal development class and I have had a hard time finding professional LinkedIn connections that relate to the design field. This may not be entirely appropriate for this sub, but I was hoping to find some connections and talk about LinkedIn as a resource in the Design world.
