How can I use a WYSIWYG editor to update the home page of a website for a novice user?

I've set up a simple website for someone but I've been stuck doing all of the updates to it for them. The main page is the main one that always needs updating, so I'd like to set it up to where she can update it herself. She is a very novice user so it will need to be very simple, preferably with a WYSIWYG editor and that can be updated through the website without needing a program installed on the computer.

I thought I had a (very complex and hacked up) solution to this using blog software that I installed on the server. I had it setup where she just had to edit a blog post (came with a WYSIWYG editor) and then I used <?php include> to display a stripped down version of just the entry. It almost worked, except I couldn't fully confine it to the borders I need it to and I couldn't get any code included past it to display (namely, the footer).

Is there a better solution to this?
