Hi /r/web_design, I have a family friend in her mid sixties. She is a very driven woman and taught young adolescents her whole career.
Despite being semi-retired she is always trying new things, the last time I had spoke with her she had learned to speak French. I got in touch with her again recently and she wants to build a program to help disadvantaged adolescents, and a website alongside it.
This is where I ask you what would be a cost-effective option that her and I could manage ourselves from here on out? One thing I do know enough about is how to layout a website so it's clear, distinct, and easy to navigate. So it would be best in this situation to have a GUI interface of some kind that can be used to assemble the site?
I know there is obviously google but sometimes the information and experience provided by true enthusiasts can be a great asset as well. Thank you so much to everyone who reads and contributes.
TL;DR - Assembling a cost-effective, simple to manage website for a non-corporate project.
PS - Are there any hosting sites/services that are well-known for good mobile interfaces? This is something alot of adolescents use now exclusively for their web browsing and would probably be a huge aid in my friend's program.
