I've been trying for a very long time to create a classic comic look to my work. I more or less have the line work and goofy anatomy down, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to replicate the printed and aged look of the real thing. It always ends up looking like pop art.
I've tried using the color halftone effect pretty much every way you can. But it doesn't seem to be able to create the printing dots in the pieces I am taking inspiration from. I've used it in conjunction with blurs, brushes, and all types of techniques to make the work look worn down.
Do you guys have any tips? Or will I just have to spend more time in the lab?
Thank you in advance!
Edit: After more thought I think the thing that is really missing is the kind of "haze" over the work, if that makes sense. There's a wonderful kind of fuzziness to the work that I can't seem to replicate with blurs and the halftone filter.
