Problems with printing a booklet on InDesign where one side of the page is not aligned correctly with the other side of the page.

I'm doing a project for my typography class in which I had to design a book. When I go to print as a booklet (2-up saddle stitch, double sided, short edge binding) the crop marks are not aligned. They're a couple of mm off on each side but when I go to cut the pages, if really messes up the whole book. I used a laser jet printer if this matters. Has anyone else ever run into a problem like this and fixed it? Or does anyone have any other solutions on how to print a booklet from InDesign (where I don't have to pay for an actual shop to do it)? Thanks in advance!
