3D Swirling Text

Hi everyone. I am a designer in an agency at the moment having some issues with a concept I want to pitch. In particular, I am having a hard time wrapping my brain around an idea. Maybe you guys can help?

I want to create text that is "swirling" around a person in a photograph. Imagine if you will a person sitting at the edge of his bed, with a paragraph from a book swirling around him as he sits contemplating. Does that make sense at all to anyone? I don't want the text to be 3d, but flat text in a 3d space?
