Reaching out to companies via Instagram for work?

I want to do packaging design or misc illustrative type of work but I don’t know how to reach out to companies about my services.

I’ve contacted companies through Instagram and one got back with me suggesting another business Colette...but this was right before they announced they would be closing their doors 😭

Does anyone have any advice or positive experiences from reaching out through ig?
