Advice wanted, difficult design and client.

I was asked to redesign a logo for an electrical company. He gave me very vague responses when I asked what he liked and didn’t like about his current logo. I asked about colors, anything he would like to see, etc. I know he’s not the designer, but I’m trying to get a feel for what he wants.

What do you do when you’re given no direction? I feel like I’m going to waste my time creating something he won’t want and having to start over. Oh, he likes lightning bolts. That’s it.

Great design resource
