As an interior designer, how do you know if your design works?

Digital product design or industrial design often conduct customer feedback and user testing, but interior design and architectural fiems do little or no form of survey or feedback that would potentially inform them on the end users' thoughts on the space (be it functionality, usability, visceral experience, etc.) So how can we justify the succrss of our design with a more objective approach?
