How good are you at identifying a source file?

I commissioned a designer to do some work for me and I'm very happy with the results. For legal purposes, I need to be 100% sure that this is, in fact, an original design. Im 99.9% sure it is, but I'd like to be as certain as possible.

Is there metadata I can check on the file? When it was created? If I sent you the .eps file would you be able to tell?
