Is public speaking useful, as UX designer?

At my study we have a lot of public speaking. I noticed that I'm quite natural in this aspect. I can speak in a way and move in a way that makes people listen. I've been planning to analyze TEDTalks, and other public speakers to understand how they keep everyone interested.

I'm curious if this will come in handy in Design Firms? I know the one will speak to the client is mostly the one who does the accountmanager, but how about public speaking?

Your next obsession: retro Japanese video game art...Commercial art from Japan’s video game boom is ridiculously cool and endlessly inspiring — and it might just be the next big thing in design.

I finished compiling the results of the 2017 Design Tools Survey

Hey everyone—

I spent the better part of my holiday break analyzing the results of the 2017 Design Tools Survey. Thanks to everyone who participated (nearly 2,000 people did)! This is my first time doing something like this, so I'm more than open to feedback. I've included some things I'd like to improve for next year.

Thanks again!

See the Results

I am doing a career change..

By accident, i got into another field of work after my studies in design. This year i am planning to change back.

I have a Phd in Productdesign, and i freelanced a little with graphic design years ago, But i never had a job in design.

I feel it would be a waste to just throw away 4 years in college by choosing a career where i have to start from scratch again. I would like to study or build on the Phd i already have. The problem is i have no idea what paths i can take.

I am a blank canvas at this point. I dont know which type of jobs are disappearing, which are on the rise and how to be smart about my choices. I figure i ask you guys.. what would you do in my situation?

I need help with the Multimedia/Graphic Design field.

I’m 16 and want to get a head start do I can prepare my self for the future. I want to know what I need to learn, the programs, etc. Currently in my high school we have no careers related to these fields except for photography but it doesn’t even get in depth to learning photoshop. If anyone would like to give me advice or even help tutor me that would be great. I don’t know maybe I would even considering paying, but it would be great to have a peer to help me on the ways
