Looking to buy screen graphic tablet and need recommendations

Hello I'm looking to buy a screen graphic tablet but i need some help selecting the perfect one. I recently picked up digital painting and have been enjoying it on my wacom screenless graphic tablet, but I can't draw with it to save my life. Ive been sticking to just colouring already drawn images from the internet. I am looking for the best bang for buck screen graphic tablet that meets my requirements.

Supports pen tilt - I hold my pens in a strange fashion compared to the norm that causes me to draw at an angle

Low parallax - I want my cursor to be as close as it can possibly get to the actual pen tip.

Be able to lie flat easily - I want it to mimic as close as possible to drawing on a sketchbook. I cannot draw "vertically" to save my life. A small sub 20 degree tilt would be acceptable but prob no higher.

Has decent support for fine line work - I realize that it's hard to get perfect fine line work on digital art compared to traditional methods but I would like a tablet that supports decent fine line work.

I almost always have my hand if not both my hands on my tablet so I would be looking for a tablet that doesn't have touch screen or can turn off touch screen.

my budget is up to 1000 CAD which is roughly around 750 USD but I would prefer to stay at around the 800 cad mark. Also screen size is not very important to me as long as its not below 13 inches.

Best site to create a portfolio?

I have an experience in marketing, editorial writing, and graphic design and needed some advice on where's the best place to create my online portfolio.

I'm currently using a free weebly site for my deck and have experience with wordpress for my blog, but I need something design friendly since a big part of my freelance is email marketing and ad design. (However, I do have writing as well!)

What are your recommendations for something easy to use (I can't code, only basic HTML)? + if you have any portfolio inspo I can take a look at, please leave them below! Thanks in advance 😌

What do you think of this image?

My apartment building posted this message and I found the image to be very interesting: https://imgur.com/a/SRnny8d

I immediately processed the person on the right as a woman (because of her head scarf, and similarity to Rosie the Riveter). But I also thought of the other person on the left as a woman, but I can't explain why. Do you see anything in the image that may have nudged me into thinking this way? How do you see this image?

BTW, I'm a first time poster to r/Design. Let me know if you think another subreddit is more suitable for this topic.

Edit: clarified that the person on the right made me think of Rosie the Riveter

Do you ask for a deposit from a client you trust?

Or do you allow them to pay everything when the job is done?

Second time client signed our contract many days ago, but still has not sent my usual 50% deposit. Is it because it slipped his mind, or is it likely that he thinks a deposit shouldn't be required for a second-time client that I trust to pay me? I don't want to offend him, but I always prefer to wait to start working until I have my deposit.

Is Reddit for Android using IBM Plex as the main typography now?

Just wondering. At least for titles it looks like that, because of the serifs in the "g" and the "a" glyphs, which are pretty distinguishable.

What do you think?

What-on-earth is the best way to handle fonts?

Mac user, primarily adobe products and I e been collecting and using fonts for decades. I’ve got my go-tos but would love a simple way to filter fonts down in these programs!

Is there any easy way to “eliminate” fonts by type style or any other filters within photoshop and illustrator? Or is there something better?

Any advice is appreciated.

I want to study abroad as a graphic design major. Where should I go?

I’m a sophomore in my undergrad program. My school tuition has been lowered to $500 which makes the idea even more appealing. I’m located in the south east of the US and speak a little bit of Spanish. Where would you go to study graphic design?

Any ideas for this site's header in terms of layout/design?

Recently I was hired to rebuild this site.

The site had been built in wordpress by a non-designer, and over a span of 2-3 years they'd hired developers here and there to add parts and the site was a huge mess.

They began working with google who had told them the site was mess in terms of SEO, and at first they just wanted a 1-1 rebuild with semantic code etc...

I had very little wiggle room in terms of layout etc... but I did my best to use what I had to make it a bit more modern. They want the background color, they want the nav bar as it is (although my latest build has made it a little smaller), etc...

I'm kind of stuck with the header though... working with a logo that's not great, I need to use that .gif as it is, and the tagline "unfold the future".

Anyone got any ideas how to present these three elements in a more striking/modern way? Been staring at it for too long and I'm kind of stuck.

Here's a recent build of the new site.

Cheers for any help in advance.

Outside-the-box website feeds?

Hi all. Wondering if someone can shed some light on this - occasionally a marketing agency will get in touch with me and ask me if I can reverse engineer some weird website they've found. The answer is always yes, I can figure out a way to make what they want. But they've sent so many of these sites to me now I'm thinking there must be a digest or feed they're pulling them from. I'm wondering if someone knows of such a feed? Here are some of the websites they've asked me to reverse-engineer for them in the past:

https://cewe-photoworld.com/photos-on-the-web/

https://www.atticstorage.co.uk/guides/the-best-places-to-live-in-london

https://www.insideasiatours.com/step-inside/vietnam-location/

http://everylastdrop.co.uk/

http://www.fsmillbank.com/#/fs-millbank

It would be really useful to know about any place on the web that curates these kind of sites - I'd like to submit one of my own.

Cheers

Where can I find case movies for brand identities, ad campaigns, etc. that people send in to design awards?

Hi! I'm looking for a place where I can find awesome case studies on brand identities, ad campaigns, product presentation, etc. Typically 1-2 minute films agencies send in to design awards like the Cannes Lion. The Cannes Lion have it's own archive, but it's behind a expensive pay wall…

Is there a youtube playlist, website or even a sub reddit for that kind of stuff?

If nothing like this exists, how about we start a sub reddit if anyones interested?

[Request] Wondering if a design can be replicated?

Hi /r/Design,

Some years ago I bought a T-shirt from a clothing store which had a design on it that I really liked. However, I was about 14 then and I have widened a bit since then and the shirt is now a little small. Therefore I am making this post wondering if anybody knows of any websites/has the skills to replicate the design! Obviously there will be compensation. Thank you!

Most affordable stock photo site?

My workplace has been using Photospin.com as our main source of stock photos for years now - but to our surprise it has unexpectedly gone out of business as of today.

It was very affordable, and our plan allowed 50 downloads a day and had tons of vector graphics as well as photos. It wasn't the highest quality stuff, but it worked for us since we tend to use a lot of stock imagery in our work. (We're an ad production team at a free weekly newspaper, and many of our clients are small local businesses who can't afford professional photography.)

Can anyone recommend a good alternative? The more affordable, the better.

Which of these tablets should I buy? Any other recommendations?

I've done very little digital drawing, but it always seemed very alluring to me; therefore I would like to start doing it daily. For that I need a graphics tablet of my own.

I found quite a few posts asking about different tablets in the search, but they were all pretty old.

My budget is around £100, this is what I'm interested in at the moment:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/H610-Pro-Graphics-Drawing-Compatible/dp/B00GIGGS6A

What's the difference between this and the 8192 version? They cost the same.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wacom-Intuos-Draw-Tablet-White/dp/

Wacom seems to be the prevailing brand here, but this seems quite expensive for the size. Are they really worth it?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Monoprice-9-Inch-Graphic-Drawing-Tablet/dp/B004C4WIEG

I've also heard good things about this, but it seems too good to be true, especially for the size.

That's what I've got. What do you guys think? Do you have any better suggestions? Thanks!!
