Hi all...
A client billing question here, can you help me solve this one? I do a lot of design work for the UK arm of a multinational travel company. I created a large brochure and charged an hourly rate, racking up a considerable invoice for the UK. Now, another a new client – the Asia Pacific part of business – have had sight of the UK product I created and have asked me to create a version of the same brochure, essentially taking the Artwork but only making minor amends / tweaking prices / currency.
Question is: do I (A) charge this 'new client' only for the few hours of amends work even though I am handing over a massive piece of work? Or, (B) charge a greater fee more closely representative of the original amount of work done, which they are now benefiting from? Or, (C) charge a 'rights' or 'template' fee on top of the hourly rate? Im a solo freelancer though, so I don't think I get away with big agency rates... Or maybe there is a (D) answer?
I suspect the answer is (A), but its making me cry GBPs and I can't help thinking the new client is getting something for (next to) nothing...
Grateful for your input design/invoicing gurus!
