Effectiveness of Twitter/Social media widgets on websites

I'm working on a website redesign for my organization. The main goal of the site is informational... to advertise our organization. The goal of the redesign is to modernize the site and make it "start-up-ish". I want to remove the carousel and all the distracting nonsense above the fold and include a hero image for a huge impact.

The bosses really want a twitter/social media widget, but I think they're kind of useless. This is only my opinion, though, and I'm wondering what the popular opinion is in regards to these widgets. Any articles or data related to such opinions would also be incredibly helpful.

(PS: I don't mind having a widget if they are indeed useful. I just want the best experience for our website.)

Editing the Gridview

So i want to change the text position of the header text to the left. It's most important to do. I was playing with some code of headerText style. But I can't get it.

What am I missing?

do you guys know of alternatives to MD5 that are easy to implement?

i am creating a website where users can sign up and log in. i currently have MD5 (old code i used in an old project a long time ago) and I've kinda fallen behind and I'm not as familiar with this as i used to be. i am after something that is not particularly complex to implement. here is a jsfiddle,
