I'm working on a website redesign for my organization. The main goal of the site is informational... to advertise our organization. The goal of the redesign is to modernize the site and make it "start-up-ish". I want to remove the carousel and all the distracting nonsense above the fold and include a hero image for a huge impact.
The bosses really want a twitter/social media widget, but I think they're kind of useless. This is only my opinion, though, and I'm wondering what the popular opinion is in regards to these widgets. Any articles or data related to such opinions would also be incredibly helpful.
(PS: I don't mind having a widget if they are indeed useful. I just want the best experience for our website.)
