What Can We Do To Educate On The Worth Of Seemingly Simple/Worthless Design?

So the ManvsMachine XBox One identity design has been floating around. I noticed a comment on it's worth: http://ift.tt/2e2CJ0D. Not sure why this one hit me as many times I've seen non-designs talk about how worthless a redesign seems to be. Although seeing that idea had me wondering what could be done to help educate why design is worth something when it may not seem like it? There's a lot more to design than the end product. What might we do to make that clear?

What can we do to show the worth of design?

On a side note, as much as that comment hit me, there's plenty of times that attitude has come from designs who should understand why a seemingly worthless design was actually worth something. So maybe this idea, that seemingly simple, worthless design is actually worth something, will be harder to spread than anticipated
