When to start applying for entry-level positions?

Hey guys,

I'm a senior design student at the University of Michigan with a focus on UI/UX. I'll be graduating late April 2017.

I've been looking into securing a full-time position ASAP, but I've noticed a dearth of formal recruitment for designers. A lot of my engineering friends have already received offers, and the pressure is really getting to me.

I've found a lot of junior designer positions, but I'm a little hesitant to apply because I feel like it may be too early, as they wanna fill that position immediately, for the most part.

So I wanted to ask, should I wait until early spring to start applying? Or are there other places to look for recruiters that are targeting fresh graduate designers?

Thanks!
