Lack of privacy in the office...

I am on a mighty quest for:

  • A pre-existing product that is for sale (for a price that does not require me contemplating how much one of my limbs would actually sell for)

  • A DIY project (I have quite a few skills, and even a small degree in design) that either can be purchased but made without too much trouble, or maybe not purchased and made with some trouble, but overall completed before I get to a point in my life where I find a new job

  • Someone I can pay to make me a product (any product) that completes the one basic function that I need it to do...

... And what is it that I need my sought product to do?

Give me some damn privacy.

You'd think it'd be so simple, but it's not. I never feel comfortable. I suffer from anxiety, and also from ADD. Every sound has me on edge, and I can't help but notice both the visual and audio disturbances within my environment. I realized I need to eliminate both sight and sound by putting myself into a smaller space (or giving myself the illusion that I am, at least) and then utilizing headphones or speakers with different music/audio that I found to help me concentrate...

I can't do this, however, because the way my desk is positioned, I'm facing the far right corner of a room, with my back and left side exposed and open to the business of the rest of the office. Anyone can walk through the door, anyone can see what I'm doing (and even if I'm not slacking, this bothers me a lot due to the anxiety) and I spend a lot of time worrying about my lack of privacy that it ends up distracting me further and getting in the way of my work.

I researched a lot of products. I found a lot of awesome stuff. Cool desks that I wish we had, but I alone cannot buy a 2k desk, nor can I request that my company does so. I found a neat little wool sack that you can crawl into with a laptop to kind of hide away for a bit, but the woman expects over 3k for it despite it being made of recycled materials. I found a few other perfect, potentially affordable furniture accessory type pieces, but they never got funded past their design state...

So now, I'm at a total loss.

I obsess over this. I try not to think about it too often, but privacy is important to me because it provides a distraction free environment. It allows me to focus and be productive. I don't know what I can buy. I don't know what I can make.

If anyone has any ideas. If anyone knows of anythings. If anyone has any offers. Please, let me know.

Thanks!
