Help! A professional musician stole my animation, using it in a music video. What can I do to resolve this?

They never once contacted me or asked me about using my work to promote themselves.

Can I just send them a invoice as if this was a for hire project?

Should I just contact them these actions not cool? I haven't done so yet.

I'm a professional animation/vfx artist. This is what I do for a living. Nearly 1000 hours went into making the full animation, I feel I'm owed something for my time.

I know its probably not worth perusing legal action, but I have not been in a situation like this before, and would like some input on how to proceed. Thanks!
