Job Interview: What is a design assessment?

So I am going in for a job interview next week and they will be conducting a "design assessment."

Even though I have been a designer for about 10 years now, I have never had this step in the interview process. I've only had to present my portfolio and talk about my process.

What exactly is a "design assessment" or what have been your experiences? This is for a UX / UI design position, if that helps any.
