How much should I ask for for a UX role? (X-post r/userexperience)

I've read a bunch of surveys and have looked at the responses to similar posts, but I'm hoping to get a response that's a little bit more relevant to me.

I am from Atlanta and recently graduated with bachelor's degree. I have about 2 years of experience. I recently finished interviewing for a mid-level position at a relatively well-known design firm. They are interested in hiring me, and I am interested in working there! I'm not certain what the title is, but it looks like I will have the opportunity to do a lot of different types of design work (research, concept dev., wireframing, visual design, testing).

I am also interviewing with two other much larger companies for similar positions. They each have in-house design teams, and, should they decide to extend offers, I am expecting them to be ~$80-85k. I am aware that design firms typically pay less than corporations.

How much should I shoot for with the firm? It seems like great opportunity, but I've seen a lot of conflicting data online, so I want to make sure I'm not lowballing myself. I don't know much about benefits yet.

If there is anything that I need to clarify, please let me know.

Thanks everyone!

Any alternatives to 99designs?

Hey everyone, I tried out 99designs.com and after submitting a few designs, my account was "put on hold" because apparently I wasn't good enough (which doesn't appear to be true since I was a finalist in a contest). Until I "work on 4-5 designs for 3 months" and send them to them to be re-evaluated, I can't access my account. Anyone know of any alternatives?

Need assistance with a custom Zippo, help greatly appreciated

So, my dad's 50th birthday is coming up, and I wanted to get him a custom Zippo with a certain logo on the front. Got an email this morning saying that my order was cancelled due to ToS restrictions.

So, I was wondering if anyone knows the best way I could do this myself. I was thinking I could just print it on gloss paper, glue it, & do a gloss sealant spray over top of that. My biggest concern though, is that the edges of the print will be really apparent, and the sealant might not hold up constantly rubbing against the inside of a pocket.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I just want it to be of decent quality.

Need a logo for my team

Hey guys, I am new to this subreddit and I am just trying my luck. Me and five of my friends are playing competetive Counterstrike Global Offensive together for a year. We participate in many national and international leagues and cups and are also playing on some lan tournaments. Since we left our organisation due to lack of support and interesst we need a new logo for our team.

Our team is called "Team Never Tilt" short TnT.

http://ift.tt/1UathAX

Maybe something like this would look cool but basically you have all the freedom you want. One idea which came into my mind was something like this

http://ift.tt/1O1EtDu

http://ift.tt/1UatCDQ

with a group of 5 people in the background with some ak47,desert eagles, awps.

http://ift.tt/1O1EreS

This is also looking cool

We need this logo basically for our steam picture or for something like esl, esea and co.

Trying to find an iOS app.

Hey guys, I have a bit of a strange question, and if it's not in conformance with the subreddit's rules, I'll happily delete the post. (redirection to appropriate subreddit would be welcome in that case)

Some time ago, I read an article that highlighted some specific UI and UX design decisions that a certain app made. I would really like to find this article and app again, but I'm having trouble remembering the app's name, what site it was on, and how I got the link. I was hoping that, of all subreddits, this might be the one that would help me find it just with the silly specific details that i do remember.

So, all I can remember about the app:

  1. Very blue :)

  2. A lot of the navigation was based on cards, that take up the entire screen, with the stack + background behind the frontmost one.

  3. When a cell is selected, there is a sort of material design-ish ink that spreads from the point that was tapped outwards.

  4. There were some pretty interactive graphs.

I would have expected to have seen this app previously, based on its design excellence, but I remember thinking that it was a fairly niche application.

Reference on I Love New York

Hey, guys!

I'm getting my degree on Advertising, and the theme of my final paper is the campaign I Love New York, created by the agency Wells Rich Greene, and Milton Glaser.

Hell, what am I talking about, you guys know it better than me.

I'm here to ask you guys if any of you can give me some references on the topic. Either design centered, propaganda centered, or anything else centered. Since I'm not a designer, and design is not the focus of my degree, I'm having a hard time getting my hands on good material.

Thanks in advance, I hope you guys can give me some hints!

[HELP] - Email Signature (loses all formatting when applied to email applications)

Hey everyone! I'm a big lurker here however I've been having the biggest issues with making a email signature. Im going to assume this is the right place to post as its more design then anything.

I designed an email signature for myself however when trying to apply it to gmail, outlook (program), outlook (web), it looses all of its formatting.

I made two versions, one with inline styles, and one with a table, and booth seem to lose all formatting.

If there is something I'm missing or somewhere you can lead me to, to fix this problem, I would appreciate it a lot.

Where can I get this type of gate fold printed in the UK?

I'm looking for a company that delivers in the UK to print Save the Dates for my wedding, however I'm struggling to find the right dimensions.

[Contest] Design a Motivational T-Shirt for a chance to win $100!

After recently launching my first clothing company, I quickly discovered my need for more intricate designs. To fill this need, I have decided to come to Reddit to look for inspiration. To make this fun for you guys as well, the individual with the best design (as voted by me) will recieve a prize of $100!

But before you open up Photoshop and get your creative minds flowing, I would like to cover some rules and guidelines:
* The theme for this contest is motivational tees. Create a creative t-shirt with a graphic/quote that displays an inspirational message.
* All designs must be submitted with an editable Photoshop vector.
* Final designs must be a high quality image.
* There may only be one submission per person.
* No foul language or obscene gestures may be on the designs.
* All designs must be your own.
If any of these rules are broken, your submission will be disqualified from the competition.

How to submit: To submit your design, all you have to do is simply paste a link to your design's vector in the comment selection below.

Good luck to all the contestants. I can't wait to see what all you guys can make!
