Ways to attach stuff to a dog collar?

I have a 2by2inch plasic component that I am designing and would like to see if y'all have any interesting concepts of how to attach it to a dog collar?

dog collars are usually 1-3 inches wide and can range from a variety of products such as cloth, rubber, rope, leather etc.

I am aware of simply hanging my device from the collar, and like to avoid passing the collar through the device hooks.
