Question about pricing as a freelancer: Have you ever put a thumb on the scale?

I had this meeting with a possible client that asked me for an estimate to design and develop the website and visual identity for his film production company. One of those portfolio websites to showcase their work.

All good until he suggested if he could pay me with films. He offered me filming whatever I wanted (and he suggested filming my wedding, but I'm not even engaged) just moments after mentioning their last production had a 500k budget, the next one was authorised to receive 2 million and the director had just remodelled his 2-story penthouse to have production and crew meeting there. I got pissed.

I was going to charge 2k and now I'm sending a 3.8k price because I know whatever price i send he is going to haggle me down.

Is this the correct way of negotiating? How you handle pricing your clients? Specially the cheapskates?

ps.: In my country's currency exchange rate 1k usd = 3k monies here
