100 Things Every Designer Needs to Know About People (Voices That Matter)
Hi Designers! My interior design client is asking for me to create a collage of photos they have given me to be printed at a 14'x14' size. Using Photoshop, would a 300 ppi image at 20% the size be okay? I can go up to 450ppi before the file gets too big for my computer to handle. The photos are scanned in at 600 ppi. I would use illustrator, but I'm very novice in illustrator and am on a time crunch. My other thought is to create it smaller in Photoshop to get sign off on concept and then recreate in illustrator, but I know it will be more time consuming.
Thank you!
Just looking for a palette with a certain color in it, and that would be useful...
I recently started using my old Trust tablet again but I noticed that inputs would only register at around 65%-70% pressure. I looked at my settings and couldn't find anything to change the "dead zone" to make it more responsive. Of course, I can change the "tip feel" from soft to firm but my issue is at the point it registers any input at all. I could swear it wasn't like this before but I could be wrong.
Unfortunately, since it is such an old and unpopular model and an uncommon problem to boot, I haven't found any luck in solving my issue. I figured it may be a problem with windows 10 or that new creator's update, nonetheless, is there anyone here that could help me?

I've just started a new job in an amazing creative agency. A lot of the projects I'm working on at the moment are based on interior design for luxury name clients. After moving from a traditional ad agency, I need a bit of help in terms of great resources for research. What blogs / online publications do you recommend for immersing myself in the design world, and interior design?

Hi there, I was asked to talk to some architecture and design students to go over some basic layout skills for their brochures and the like.
I was going to cover laying out text and image on the page so as not to be too close to edges, word count per line, display versus body typefaces, laying out text in headings for flow, alignment (should usually be left aligned, justified only in special cases), a little bit on hierarchy, aligning text and images to columns/a grid, image quality and compression, serif versus sans serif and the "vibe" that gives your document (modern versus classic), quick note on type size (10-14pt for body copy usually), basic outline of what leading is and to stick to auto-leading for body copy, tighten for headings.
Anything I've forgotten? Any other points to cover, or do you have visual examples I could show of good versus bad layouts?
I don't mean game design, as much as I love reading about that as well, nor am I referring to stuff like ROM-hacks or mods. Rather, I'm more so referring to any game that has something you can customize within it. Here were some examples:
Clothing & Outfits (Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Spash, Splatoon, Pokemon X/Y and Sun/Moon)
Levels/areas (Gran Turismo 6's track builder, Super Mario Maker, Dragon Quest Builders)
Vehicles and their liveries (Gran Turismo Sport, Need for Speed, the Gummi Ship in Kingdom Hearts)
Has anyone heard of this happening? Apparently some artists on THJP are going back on their license deals and reporting people using their artwork. This was a site I would use for vectors and i've done everything by the books and purchased licenses for commercial use.
Hi r/design, I would just like to ask the difference between look of the the words 'Summer Madness' and 'Hiroshi Nagai Exhibition'. Are they the same font? If so, what is the metric called that is changing to make the font thinner or thicker?
And lastly, how do you achieve a good balance for 'thickness' (for lack of a better term) between the title and the 'sub-title' such as the above? Are there any rules or is it more akin to tweak it until it looks good? Apologies if the question is very basic, I am still a beginner.
Thank you in advance!
Apologies if this is not the right sub, but I'm freaking out and need this fast-ish.
The caption is "Now you can claim for a travel delay of 8 hours 6 hours." (The strikethrough will be on the poster)
I need to design a poster that shows the importance of the 2 hours that the customer will save with the new policy, but I have no idea what kind of visual to use. For reference, previously I was using this image in the centre of the poster, captions on whitespace above and below the image. Boss man said it wasnt enough. Now I'm stumped.
Help please?

This is reposted from my thread over at /r/graphic_design.
I know some of you are groaning right now, but I want to get a start on this little design project sooner than later.
The gist is that for Christmas, myself along with my younger brother wants to give our parents 2–3 gift cards, and I haven’t told him yet but I want to design a card or some other kind of package that would be used to hide or keep together said gift cards.
My initial thought: create a tri-fold or quad-fold card design so then my parents would have to open up the inside of the card to reveal the gift cards, and either have slits to fit the cards (quad) in or just stick them on with some kind of temporary glue (tri.)
I am open however to any other ideas. A card-sized custom printed envelope with a printed card inside along with the gift cards was another idea that I came up with, and could be a nice alternative (and cheaper?)
Thoughts?
I have a load of 3x5inch flashcards I have written study information on, what is the best program to make it all digital?
I have tried with word, but it can get messy.
Any free/simple alternatives?
I'm looking for help getting a design made for friends wedding present. I want a MN state outline with the mn twins, vikings, and wild sports team logos inside of it to have a guy cnc cut it out for me.
Hello I am new to graphic design and was wondering if someone could help me understand something. So in the link you will see wallpapers that have this animated effect. Are they done in Photoshop and then uploaded to wallpaper engine? Can I do these in photoshop? Are there any tutorials? How will I export these once I am done with it?
Asking here because r/ID is kinda dead and it's relevant to all designers -
I'm trying to figure out how to include work I've done at my job in my personal portfolio/website. This is probably specific to my contracts and agreements, but in general I'd like some input.
How do you display professional work? Strip it of identification? Do you ever need to include trademark info? If I advocate for being able to show my drawings/models, what's a reasonable or typical compromise designers make with their company?
I'm looking for a Dribbble invite. Does anyone have one? I can PM you some of my work if you like. Here is my Dribbble page: http://ift.tt/2xwtm0P
I'm trying to find the name or source of a kind of thin flexible ABS plastic sheeting used in product photography boxes link here
Anyone know how I would be able to source this? Didn't know where else to ask this question. Thanks for all your help!
Not asking for free work, but I need to create a greeting card company logo. It has three words, the first has 10 letters with "greeting cards" after it. Anyone come across any similar logos? I am REALLY stuck on this one. Any help would be appreciated.
I am looking to buy my first drawing/graphics tablet (for digital painting), and I am looking at this This or This.
Since I have always used a mouse, and never tried a tablet like this before I was thinking with just going with the small £50 one. However my screen size is 24in. And I am worried isnt that going to not allow me to be accurate/precise at all? (providing I am understanding the way the tablet works correctly). In which case should I go with the medium?
My main question was, if I just went with the small for now to try it, if I needed to be more precise/make smaller movements, couldnt I just zoom in slightly? Or am I not quite understanding it correctly? Thanks. (I also dont know if maybe I only need the bamboo version? not sure though)
Thanks.
