How to get this type of gradient effect?

I've been trying to replicate the subtle changes in the background lighting in photos like this:

Any tips on how to achieve this via Photoshop?

At the moment, I've got it to this stage below but it looks a little weird and artificial. Any tips? I've screenshot my workspace as well so it's clear what I've done so far.
