100 Things Every Designer Needs to Know About People (Voices That Matter)
Designing a map in photoshop can be done but does anyone know any programs that cod convert that to be used in a mobile app?
I might not know exactly the correct terms to ask what I'm trying to ask but I'm asking if someone could design a real world map for a functional app then take that and encode it to be used.
Do you need to use a specific program? Is it as simple as the developer plugging it in? Can something like that even be done in photoshop?
Any help would be dope!

Hey guys,
I'm a design student and one of my relatives have asked if I can design them a few decals for their business vehicles. I'd love to do them, but I'm unsure of where to start.
I'm aware that I need to do things like outline strokes/text and create a dieline. But what do I do before that. Do I set the file up to be scaled to size? Do I need to do the design on a vehicle template almost as if it were a mockup? If so, where do I get the templates?
I realise these are probably really basic questions, but I just want to be 100% sure. If you could let me know or even link me to a video that explains/shows it done, that'd be extremely appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
Hi reddit
I’m a high schooler who saved up for the Adobe creative suite and am looking for ways to capitalize. I’ve had some small success with Society6 and Designcrowd, but I feel that those may not be the best way to invest time and effort. I am willing to learn anything from font creation to stock photography, and my current strongest skills are photoshop painted illustrations and vector icons. I have no social media outside this reddit, but will consider setting up business accounts to advertise.
What is the smartest way to go about earning? Should I try Redbubble or Etsy? Should I focus on building a solid S6 brand? Or build my own website? Thank you for your help.
I just started at Miami Ad School in April, wrapping up my first quarter now. I'm underwhelmed so far by the classes, feeling like I'm not being taught the technical skills that I'll need when I get into the industry. I chose it for the industry connections since I really want to make sure I get a job out of it, but most of the instructors have been ADs and CDs not designers. They seem to prioritize their art direction students and I'm worried I should have chosen a college certificate program instead. Any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Does anyone know how I can achieve this gradient effect via illustrator? I am attempting to recreate a map similar to this but am having some issues with creating gradients a long paths with messy edges and seemingly dealing with handles that have minds of their own when it comes to formatting the size of the paths etc. Apologies for the low res, just needed a quick proof of the idea I have in mind.

Thanks
I have a .ai file for a business card. I want to edit the info on there. I don't have Adobe Illustrator. Is there a way I can upload the file and make changes to it without purchasing Adobe Illustrator? I would prefer not to download anything (I'm using my work computer!) but will if it's the only option. Thanks!
In design, every single thing counts, and really small ideas can change the experience drastically. For example: the doors of the bathroom always opening to the inside. When someone is in a rush, he can just yeet the door out of the way from the outside to the inside, and when he goes out, more relaxed, he can pull.
The power button of the cellphones put on the right. Putting the button in that side can help A LOT, because it can align with the thumb (I'm looking at you, LG Leon...).
More small decisions that can improve the ux greatly?
Hi guys. I am after some advice , I would like to get an ergonomic seat cushion designed. I am in the UK. Everywhere I have investigated tends to be mechanical design. Could someone point me in the right direction please? Thanks!
I currently have a project that contains a lot of large data sets that need to be represented as graphs and charts of various types. Wondering if there's any specific software out there that does this well while aligning with current design trends?
I use Adobe CS for most of my work and know it has graph functions, but just curious what other designers out there might use for this type of work.
What book about design would you recommend for a beginner? I'm reading The Design of Everyday Things by Don Norman right now.
I have a dream of making music and surrounding myself with good art. I want to know if there are companies/studios/people that serve as good examples of this in some way.
What I really want to know of, more than anything, is of companies that feature both music and art/design as products, not just as publicity or events, since this would be the rarer form, and I want to know if such a thing is really possible (of course I know that anything is possible).
That being said, I’d be happy to see any examples of any kind of involvement in both areas (art and music)
Are there any companies that sell in both of these areas? Are there entities that fund good music or good art?
Or do you know of designers and musicians who have collaborated?
Any of your favorites that you want to talk about?
Examples: Drake’s brand OVO
Stüssy x Soulection mixtape in 2014
I’ve been told that Brixton has involved themselves in music somehow.
KCRW is a really dope radio station out of Santa Monica that features design/architecture
I want to make my own marketing and business material rather than paying someone on Fiverr to do it then paying to also have it printed. I know I'm able to use Adobe Photoshop, but are there any other alternatives preferably cheaper and/or easier for beginners?
Couple more questions:
How much does Adobe Photoshop generally go for?
As a beginner, will I be able to create my own designs pretty easily?
Thanks for your thoughts, I just hit a wall sometimes with the CC0 sites and it’d be nice to have a quality stock site but not if it’s not worth it.
Anyone who's good at designing stuff, i really need help, ihave to do some works of design for tomorrow bc im a fucking idiot, but i can't get any decent idea The topics are: -human head -lights and shadows -water Please can you guys give me some ideas, i don't know where to start
My portfolio exist of graphic design and I love to focus on esports.
I would highly like opinions of my work.
All the best, thanks
Here's some samples of what I can do.
I don't have any past emoloyment history other than a couple odd graphic design jobs. I'm in the process of getting out of school as well as trying to move out (but need a job first) and I'm a bit flustered.
Pretty unsure of what to put on a resume seeing as though it'd look pathetic. One of my past art teachers said that somewhere has to take me, which was incredibly motivating, but, quite frankly I feel like a lost cause.
I have to represent a coding concept called the testing pyramid, more info here:
https://martinfowler.com/articles/practical-test-pyramid.html
This is the image I'm trying to create:
https://martinfowler.com/articles/practical-test-pyramid/testPyramid.png
What I want to try to figure out is how to represent the arrows on either side graphically. It's a challenge because they represent two different things, but are linked.
First arrow: represents how realistic the tests are, i.e. how close it will be to when the code is complete
Second arrow: how fast the tests are to run.
So the more realistic, the slower the test, the less realistic the faster the test.
I was wondering if there was a way to represent this previous sentence graphically. I was thinking of using colors on the pyramid itself or using symbols, but I can't find a good, clear, understandable solution. Graphics that are often used for realism are the planet or cloud. For speed: rabbit, turtle, clock. None of these are great.
TLDR how do I represent a scale of both speed and realism within a single pyramid graphic?
Hi guys im a digital artist i work on an Imac 21.5 4k 2017 (99 adobe rgb) and a cintiq 16 (100% di srgb) , i create content 90% for web. Which is the right color profile i should use to get more accurate on colors?
If i will calibrate my display, can i select to calibrate only sRGB range for example? And if i have to do a work that need to be printed? Thanks!
