[Mobile App] What's your opinion on carousel/sliders?

I have a few non-vital pieces of information I'd like to show in my hotel concierge app. What's your opinion on non-rotating carousels/slide boxes as seen in this gif: http://ift.tt/2gdPuBX

 

I like the space it saves, but I'm not sure how much people like to explore an app if they're not looking for something specifically (i.e. not sliding to see Emergency Contact information.)

 

Any thoughts are appreciated.
