100 Things Every Designer Needs to Know About People (Voices That Matter)
So a guy reached out to me claiming that I got a logo similar to theirs. My full logo is Rider in Red (it's for my motovlogging) as you see in this image but I use the RIR one on anything that is square.
He asked to change it, I said it doesn't resemble his logo especially when his logo is for a different word (Ruthless Ryders) and is mainly two RR with a line in the middle which doesn't represent a letter, unlike mine. In addition they got the full name over the logo, while mine is rather the acronym for Rider in Red.
I'm trying to be nice to the guy, but I honestly don't get how you can 'change it a little to make it a bit different'. By his standards, it seems, no one can use two R letters because it'll be similar to their logo. I told him mine is short for Rider in Red but he still believes he has a reasonable request.
So, I need your sound advice on how I can convince him that from a designers point of view, these two logos don't have enough similarity to request 'changing it' on the 'plagiarising' ground.
I know he can't sue me since he hardly will have a trademark over the logo, nor do I atm though. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
With UX design, just flyers aren't going to do. So how would I effectively place entire projects in my portfolio? We have different things on my study we need to be able to do.
Some of these things are quite easy to show. Visual Design, I could simply make a UI and then show which visual theory I've applied (gestalt, color theory, etc). But others are not so easy.
One idea I had for my portfolio was creating an app for classical musicians. And then showing the entire process.
My wife has gone from computer illiterate to a super user in the social media world. She is now working on creating content in videos and picture designs. She currently video tapes herself giving reviews of her products but is always looking for a way to make it more entertaining and professional. As far as screen design, she currently is grabbing multiple images and creating invites, banners and motivational posts. She is currently using Canva to do her design and it seems like a very poor tool that is internet and browser dependent. We are looking for free software, however, if there is low cost but superior alternatives we welcome that advice that as well. (Windows 10) Thanks!
Choosing color palettes isn't my strong suit. What are your recommendations for books on color? Any other resources besides books?
Hi, I have just been tasked with making a tablet case that has the ability to fit multiple tablets, while mantaining strong aesthetic appeal, I am completely lost, can anyone provide any inspiration?
Hello all,
I am an 18 year old currently working a gap year, who will be attending University next year here in Aus. I've struggled for years on what I want to do with my life, and I think Design (mainly Graphic but I'm open) is the path is want to take.
However, I see so many posts and stories both on here and elsewhere on the internet about the difficulty to find work in the field, as well as the lower income then other similar degrees may provide.
Can anyone provide any clarification, or experience they had once graduating? Or anyone in Aus who is currently working the field, I'd love to hear anything you have to say about it.
Thank you all so much, a very good community here and it's very inspiring seeing all the great work which gets posted.
