So I just had to send some PDF files in a hurry before a print deadline. The PDFs I was sending were up to 130mb big, and upload speed was an issue with the deadline. The designer I was sending them to said that InDesign could compress the PDFs better than photoshop. It turned out she was right - the PDFs were dramatically smaller when I placed the PSD in an InDesign file and exported it there.
What I'm trying to figure out is why? In Photoshop I always set it to the latest version of Acrobat compatibility and remove editability. InDesign's default settings crushed that in terms of file size. Poking around those settings, it doesn't seem to be doing anything different to Photoshop - 300 PPI, JPEG Compression... Is Adobe purposely making Photoshop bad at saving to PDF?
