Product Design ethics: listening to users is like psychotherapy

Do you think that there's an ethical dimension in the design process? You're creating a product. You listen to the user's pains and potential gains, fears and motives. It is actually what a psychotherapist do except: you're going to make them pay money for a product you're going to build. I'm looking for material to read or a discussion about this. Thanks.
