100 Things Every Designer Needs to Know About People (Voices That Matter)
I'm trying to get into vector art, but haven't found any good tutorial that gives you a good grasp on the basics. Could you guys suggest me anything?
How do you guys go about creating an invoice for your clients?
Hi guys
Just wanted to get your opinion on a matter. I need to purchase a Macbook for a new designer to join us soon.
I am looking at the Macbook Pro 15" and I saw there are 2 versions. One with and one without an AMD Radeon R9.
How much of an performance bonus can one expect from using Photoshop/Illustrator etc with the AMD version as compared to the "stock" version?
There's a significant price jump between the two models and I am just wondering if it's worth bumping up to the "deluxe" version
Thanks in advance everyone!
Hey Design pros, does anyone have any examples of LOCATION pages that are for maybe doctors office that they think is really sharp?
I'm redesigning my works site and trying to figure out how to do the Location pages. Each has hours (some have like 4 sets of hours), services, address, map. I'm having trouble figuring out the best way to layout this information, while still using 1/3rd of the page for a Sidebar.
Any suggestions?
I'm thinking of websites that have a large amount of just random pictures and design elements that scrolling through give you ideas for whatever you're currently working on.
One of my go-to's is Designspiration
Does anyone know of some others they really like?
Alright so I'm getting a Graphic Design degree right now. I love graphic design and honestly all kinds of design jobs really seem to interest me. My degree covers marketing, graphic design, all major arts, and industrial design. My major being Graphic Design but with my degree covering such a vast majority of things ( also including video production but that's not what I'm talking about here ) will I be able to advertise myself as just a designed and possibly get jobs in the industrial design field? Or because of the title of my degree am I only limited to graphic design jobs?
Hello everyone i'm doing some research and i'd like to ask all of you, if you ever did college for design or if you know any college that teaches design in any way that is out of standart for exemple using VR or doing projects in colaboration with communities, any exemple helps! Also please if you can and are confortable with, state name of institution.
Hi, my budget is limited with this devices. I used Wacom Intuos before for a while and actually I like it. But I want to buy something mobile. I don't want to carry my notebook and Intuos. Anyway, I sold my Intuos few months ago. I'm planning to buy Air 2 or Mini 4 and pressure sensitive pen. So I got few questions:
Note: I'm just hobbyist, not a professional.

I graduated with an interior design degree in 2013. Apart from a brief stint with the most satisfying job ever (money/work ran out), I have been chasing a mouse around my desk making CAD drawing pretty. I am now actively looking for a job in which I create things, but I don't have any creative work to show from the past three years. Should I show work from school? I have done a lot of side projects to keep me sane, but none of them are very substantial.
I'd like to get input from anyone who's been in this situation before as well as people who hire for amazing jobs.
Thanks!
For a university assessment, I need to select an influential designer - from any medium - that worked within the 1930s to the 1980s, and deliver a presentation on how I think their style would translate to a medium that they didn't work with, e.g. an architect making a phone case.
Any suggestions on who I should pick and why?
I, a very inecperienced designer, have been asked to help woth a design. So far so good. I can handle the programs and creative aspect well, but the people I'm working for are a nightmare. We were supposed to go into "test printing" over a week ago, but they completely ditched that, because they couldn't send me the material I needed to finish on time. Now, they are planning on printing tomorrow and I have a few problems. (Keep in mind I am a 19 year old girl trying to work with 3 grown men in their 30s.)
They want to immediately print the final product, since there's barely any time left. What if there's an error, like the quality of a picture or two... or all... Not being okay? It's going to be pinned on me, I already know that. And that might be just. I don't know...?
I have just been informed that I will recieve the information I STILL need to finish the design around 9-12pm. I don't work at home, so if I want to finish on time, I'm going to have to work through the night to make it. Again. I was already up until 4am today, finishing up EVERYTHING else just because my "boss" decided it was necessary to be done in the morning today. That was bad time management on my end for a part, but the fact that he said he needed it and now won't even start working on his end of the stuff until 7 or 8pm is frustrating.
Those are my biggest issues right now, which are just worsened by my lack of confidence in the field and the fact that these people sometimes make me feel like my pay should be seven times higher. Should I just tell them it's impossible? Or can I tell them that I'll work for a significant increase in my pay during these hours?
I honestly want to cry, because these people are such a nightmare to work with. And it really makes me question if I want to start a formal education to work in the creative field. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this, I have no idea where to go.
Hello.
In my Corporate Design course we're supposed to do a CD for a restaurant, they gave us a list of what has to be done. And they listed three different cards.
But what is the difference between them design-wise? I struggle with it a little, because usually I would just make it all look the same, but it isn't apparently... We have ti hand it in on wednesday. And the course is on tuesday, so there isn't a lot of time I have. This whole project wasn't really thought through of the teachers, because we didn't had enough time to do everything.
I'm looking for some new inspirations. Personally I like a minimalistic style like this but I appreciate any kind of tutorial. Actually I'm struggling with presenting a product in a cool way. I would also love to learn some new techniques and styles.
Thank you very much in advance.
I'm sure you have seen this issue where you have all the fonts in a family as different fonts: http://ift.tt/2bPL1GU What I want to do, is merge (p.e.) all the Courier fonts into one Courier, and all the Courier New into one Courier New.
I already used FontLab TransType 4 (specifically v4.0.1 build 5095) but there's a bug where "Semi Bold", "Heavy" and "Extra Black" types don't actually work. I mean, I can select it and convert the fonts, but there are issues (like, Black appearing before Heavy in the font listing). So I need better software because TransType is probably abandoned (it's a great software, though, and has a fully functional 7 day trial).
I'll accept and and all recommendations, I'm super new to this. For now, I'm using the fonts "as-is", but would love a software where I can actually fix my fonts.
I'm tired of all my business school friends using cambria.
I need something new and want recommendations for things over than Helvetica Neue Light.
