This post may not be in the right place, but I've been invited to an art show (as an illustrator). It's a show that goes to different cities, has lukewarm reviews, and I suspect that the reserved style of my work may go unnoticed against the expressive, large paintings touted in event pictures.
Should I go as an attendee first and possibly give up an opportunity? Should I scramble together prints and frames for a piece or two and give out my nice, pretty business cards? Should I hold out till I have more "buyable" work?
