My wife and I moved to Los Angeles in January and I have been out of work for 3 months. Then all of sudden... this:
I had an interview to work with one of the leaders of extreme sportswear as a graphic designer with potential to be a design director within a year, depending on my skill, talent, and managerial abilities. The interview went well, and I got offered the position to start immediately. It's located about 20 minutes away, offers full benefits, a household name for my resume, and a very competitive salary.
However, to keep myself busy, I picked up a freelance gig at an ad agency in Culver City. It was a creative team working on big campaigns for Starbucks, Warner Bros., Disney, and the list continues. My dream job. I was only there for 3 days and I was already becoming friends with the dozen or so team members that made it so much fun to work there. I even had a beer on my lunch break with my team lead who complimented my abilities and design process. This was given to me from a guy who graduated from Art Center in Pasadena, CA.
The help I need is, am I making the right decision to go for a job that is closer to my location, with a higher salary, instead of my dream job that is a 1 hour commute each morning and evening? I am literally basing my decision because of how much time I am spending in my car... and it is very difficult for me to pull the trigger.
I have until tonight to make my final decision, and I can't seem to make up my mind.
PLEASE HELP!!
Thank you so much for reading.
