3D for Design?

I've been following a really nice design minded animation studio out of London called Animade, and this came across their IG a while ago:

I'm really really interested in the idea of being able to design using this aesthetic and this style, not necessarily in animation, but recreating this look for print ads, and web work seems like it could have all sorts of applications.

Does anyone have any suggestions for how to go about learning this? I started a Blender Beginners course, but what's everyone's thoughts on 3D modeling in the design world, and would it be beneficial for a designer to learn something more robust like Maya, 3DS Max, or Cinema 4D?
