Chapter 8 - Stimulants for the Mind's Eye, page 222.
The chapter begins as follows:
To instruct in design is, in a sense, a presumption. Nothing is as personal as an individual's design idiom, and to write about the best way of developing a design idiom can result in gross generalities. Many authors have attempted manuals of design -- formulas to successfull solutions of the infinite problems of design. Most have failed because they depended too heavily on the generalities and gave to little emphasis to design as a personal development.
Edit: typo; i have a photocopy of this chapter and am trying to review the entire book. Thank you.
