I've noticed over the past 200 years or so the cities / communities that have been rebuilt all go from a self-reliant core, to a dependent core. Here are some images to further explain what I mean by this.

So the thing I'm curious about, is what would our cities and neighborhoods would look like, with all our current innovations if the focus was on equality of lifestyle and not the creation of opportunity for $$.
