I'm a member of a design consortium, and recently I've become interested in the potential for design and design thinking to influence the political and social realm. It's certainly infiltrated the business world, even beyond the startup sphere (see the multitude of companies spinning off an "innovation lab" or design thinking group), and certainly it's already made it's way into government.
As a part of this consortium, it's my responsibility to conceive of, plan, and develop projects. The project I have in mind right now is very humble, short term, and somewhat high level, as it is simply a literature review of books and articles that discuss American and global political evolution, and the impact of technology, startup economies, innovation, and of course design.
I have a background in intellectual history and social enterprise, and worked for years chronicling the successes of grassroots efforts to effect political, economic, and social change. I would like to channel the knowledge I've acquired, as well as some "tougher stuff" from the political science and international relations realm into some research that I can share.
Any recommendations for good books and scholarly articles in this vein would be appreciated.
Great design resource
